To all the Desi street food lovers out there, we have an exciting, yet bittersweet, announcement to make. Paratta is taking a temporary hiatus from our takeaway kitchen and food truck in order to pour all of our time, energy and creativity into the next phase of bringing you the premium Desi street food experience you deserve: a Paratta sit-down restaurant.
Several years ago, we started Paratta with a simple thought: let's share the flavors and emotions of the South Asian street food we adore with those unfamiliar with this side of the cuisine. And since our inception, your unwavering support and overwhelming love for what we created, entirely from scratch, kept propelling us forward. We made it through the growing pains of an industry new to us, we outlasted a life-altering pandemic, and we're blessed that we've been able to grow and achieve a level of success we couldn't ever have imagined.
We've been humbled by the opportunity to serve you the flavors and share with you a culinary experience that is incredibly dear to our hearts. Every event you've attended and every day we've had you in for service has allowed us to witness firsthand the joy that lights up your faces when you bite into what has embodied the love we have for Desi street food. You really have been the motivating force for us since day one.
But still, what Paratta is today is not what we sought out for it to be-- we know you deserve more, the cuisine deserves more. And that's precisely why it's time for us to embark on the next phase in our culinary adventure.
It will be by far the most difficult decision and most difficult step for us to take, but we know it's necessary. We simply can't split our time to create what's next for Paratta while maintaining what's here now. We'll miss seeing the familiar regulars pulling up at the curb or patiently waiting in line at the truck. While those experiences will soon be going away, rest assured, our hiatus is purely temporary. It will be hard work and it will take time, but let's treat this not as a goodbye, but rather a building of your appetite as we set the table.

We're eternally grateful for your support, feedback and the bonds we've formed through our shared love of Desi street food. Paratta is a modern Desi food experience, bringing an authentic and premium South Asian street food experience to the masses. Our name comes from the flaky, buttery lachha paratha that we use to wrap our rolls, always made in-house.
We pride ourselves in where our food is from and how it gets raised, and that's why we only use 101% halal-certified meat along with the freshest and finest ingredients.
We put tremendous attention into respecting our customers’ diets, and care deeply about the inclusion of everyone. We’re proud to be brown and want to spread the great tastes and beauty that Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries have to offer. In doing so, we hope to raise awareness of our cultures to those that are unaware, and give American Desis a larger voice.
We created Paratta due to the absence of South Asian places proudly using high-end and premium ingredients in Southern California. We couldn’t find any presentable or clean place proudly representing our culture, history and food, and absolutely no one was showcasing desi street food as it deserved.
Paratta makes everything in-house. Our lachha parathas are made daily by hand, with our own chefs using our own home-grown recipe. And unlike the parathas we grew up with, we knew parathas didn’t need to be greasy and heavy. We designed our parathas to not make you feel gross after devouring a paratha roll or two, and we found the right balance between taste and texture without the extra grease.
Very few South Asian eateries in America are using premium ingredients like Paratta. Our goal has always been to serve authentic South Asian street food using high-end and premium ingredients. These are the ingredients you would typically find in a restaurant, and we’re doing it in a food truck. We’re trying to evolve desi cuisine in Southern California. The struggle has been to change the way people look at South Asian food — limited to just curry, naan, poor ingredients and holes in the wall. Instead, we’re choosing to elevate the cuisine for those who know and love it, and more importantly to introduce a completely different side of the cuisine for those that are new to it.Thus the premium experience of Paratta was born. We’re very proud of it and want to expose it to as many people as we can.
